Short answer: yes, up to a limit set by your lot's frontage. Since October 2024, Mississauga's zoning by-law caps residential driveway width at 3.0 m on lots under 6.0 m wide, 6.0 m on lots 6.1–16.9 m wide, and 8.5 m on lots 17.0 m or wider. Anything wider needs a minor variance from the Committee of Adjustment.

The Mississauga width limits
| Lot frontage | Maximum driveway width |
|---|---|
| Less than 6.0 m | 3.0 m (about 9.8 ft) |
| 6.1 m to 16.9 m | 6.0 m (about 19.7 ft) |
| 17.0 m or greater | 8.5 m (about 27.9 ft) |
This comes from By-law 0182-2024, which amended Zoning By-law 0225-2007 with Table 4.1.9A. Lots with an exception zone, area-specific rules, or a minor variance approved before the by-law was enacted keep whichever allowance is larger.

Frontage is the width of your lot along the street. It's on your property survey, and often on your purchase documents. Most detached lots in older Mississauga neighbourhoods like Applewood and Mineola fall in the 6.1–16.9 m or 17 m+ bands, so a two-car-width driveway is usually possible.
When you need a minor variance
If you want a driveway wider than the table allows, you apply to Mississauga's Committee of Adjustment for a minor variance. Expect an application fee, notice to neighbours and a hearing, so it adds weeks to months. Many homeowners redesign within the limit instead, for example widening near the garage and keeping a planted strip.
The curb cut and boulevard
The part of the driveway between the sidewalk (or street) and your property line is City land. Changing the curb cut or working in the boulevard needs City approval, separate from zoning. We confirm this before any work starts.
If you live in Etobicoke or Toronto
Toronto has its own rules. Any driveway work that crosses the City boulevard, sidewalk or curb needs a permit from Transportation Services, and creating a parking space in the front yard is regulated under Municipal Code Chapter 918. Some wards don't allow new front-yard parking at all.
What we do before quoting

FAQ
Do I need a permit to replace my driveway at the same size?
Replacing a driveway at the same size on your own property generally doesn't need a zoning approval in Mississauga, but work in the City boulevard still needs City approval.
Can I pave my whole front yard?
No. The width limits exist to keep landscaped space in front yards, and widening beyond them needs a minor variance.
