Oakville
Working in Oakville.
Oakville is our neighbour to the west along the lake. We take on driveways, retaining walls, sod, gardens, drainage and fencing for Oakville homeowners, mostly in Old Oakville, Bronte and Glen Abbey and the streets around them. There are no dedicated Oakville neighbourhood pages on this site yet, so this page covers what we build here and the Town rules that apply before anything is dug.
Oakville's neighbourhoods are very different from one another. Old Oakville, around the mouth of Sixteen Mile Creek, mixes nineteenth-century houses with large newer homes on deep, heavily treed lots, and parts of it sit inside heritage conservation districts. Bronte, to the west around Bronte Creek and the harbour, has post-war bungalows and ranch homes alongside a growing number of custom rebuilds. Glen Abbey, north of the QEW, was largely built in the 1980s and 90s, with two-storey homes on curving streets and many rear yards backing onto the Sixteen Mile Creek valley trails. Each brings its own mix of trees, slopes and lot sizes, and a driveway or wall that suits a Glen Abbey crescent would look out of place on a heritage street near the lake.
On Oakville projects, the early checks often matter as much as the build. On mature Old Oakville lots, we plan driveway and wall excavation around large trees and confirm whether a tree permit is needed before the design is final. Custom rebuilds in Bronte and elsewhere tend to need a full front-yard package at once: driveway, walk, steps, planter walls and sod, designed together so grades and drainage work as one. Valley-side yards in Glen Abbey can slope steeply toward the creek, where terraced walls with drainage open up flat space and a Conservation Halton check comes first. Prices on this site are typical GTA ranges, and Oakville work is quoted the same way as anywhere else: a free site visit, then a written, itemized quote.
Oakville rules apply
Oakville is a separate municipality in Halton Region, so neither Mississauga's driveway by-law nor Toronto's rules apply. Driveway width and front-yard parking are set by Oakville's zoning by-law, and any work in the Town's road allowance, such as widening a curb cut, needs Town approval. Oakville's private tree protection by-law requires a permit to remove or injure any private tree 15 cm or more in diameter at chest height, which matters on lots this treed. In heritage conservation districts, some exterior changes need a heritage permit. Lots near Sixteen Mile Creek, Bronte Creek, the smaller creeks and the lakeshore can be regulated by Conservation Halton under O. Reg. 41/24, which can affect grading and walls. The Ontario Building Code applies here as everywhere in the province: a wall taller than 1 m beside public property or a building entrance needs a permit and engineered drawings.

FAQ
Oakville questions.
Does Mississauga's driveway width by-law apply in Oakville?
No. Mississauga's By-law 0182-2024 only covers Mississauga. Oakville sets driveway width and front-yard parking in its own zoning by-law, and curb-cut changes need Town approval. We check your lot against Oakville's rules before designing.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree for a new driveway in Oakville?
Often. Oakville's private tree protection by-law covers any private tree 15 cm or more in diameter at chest height, and Town trees on the road allowance are protected too. We confirm with the Town before any tree comes out or excavation enters a root zone.
Which conservation authority covers Oakville?
Most of Oakville falls under Conservation Halton, which regulates development near Sixteen Mile Creek, Bronte Creek, other creeks and the lakeshore. If your lot is in a regulated area, grading and walls can need its permit first.
Which parts of Oakville do you serve?
Old Oakville, Bronte, Glen Abbey and surrounding areas. Call or text 437-299-1681 with your street to confirm.
