Interlocking driveway cost in Mississauga (2026)

Typical 2026 prices per square foot and for a full 2-car driveway in Mississauga and the GTA, what drives the cost, and how to compare quotes.

By the Solid Landscaping team · Updated 2026-10-14

Short answer: most interlocking driveways in Mississauga and the GTA cost $25–$45 per square foot installed in 2026. A typical two-car driveway of about 600 sq ft usually lands between $15,000 and $27,000 before HST. Published GTA guides range from about $18 to $55 per sq ft, depending on paver, base depth and site conditions.

What you're actually paying for

The pavers are often less than half the cost. The rest is the work you never see once it's finished:

  • Removal and excavation. Breaking out old asphalt or concrete and digging down 10–14 inches, then hauling it all away.
  • Granular base. 8–12 inches of crushed stone, laid and compacted in lifts. This is what stops sinking and heaving through freeze-thaw.
  • Bedding and edge restraint. A screeded sand or chip layer and a fixed edge so the field can't spread.
  • Cutting and finishing. Borders, curves and patterns like herringbone mean more cuts and more labour.

Five things that move the price most

  1. Size and shape. Bigger driveways cost less per square foot. Curves and lots of corners cost more.
  2. What's coming out. Thick concrete or multiple layers of asphalt take longer to remove.
  3. Base depth and soil. Clay soil, common across Mississauga, often needs a deeper base.
  4. Paver choice and pattern. Large-format and premium finishes cost more, and herringbone means more cutting.
  5. Access and extras. Steps, walkways, drains, lighting, or a heated system.

How to compare quotes properly

Two quotes that differ by $5,000 are often not quoting the same job. Ask every contractor:

  • How deep is the excavation, and how thick is the compacted base?
  • What edge restraint and joint sand will you use?
  • Is removal, disposal and grading included?
  • Does the price include HST?

A cheap quote almost always saves money on the base, and the base is what decides whether the driveway lasts.

Does it cost more in Etobicoke or Toronto?

The material and labour prices are the same across the GTA, so the ranges above apply. What can add cost on the Toronto side is the site, not the city: work that touches the curb, apron or boulevard needs a permit from Toronto Transportation Services, older streets often have narrow side yards and shared driveways that slow excavation, and front-yard parking rules under Municipal Code Chapter 918 can limit how wide the driveway can go. We check those before quoting, so they show up in the written price rather than as a surprise.

Interlock vs asphalt vs concrete

Asphalt is cheapest up front but needs sealing and usually replacement within a couple of decades. Concrete can crack with freeze-thaw and road salt, and a crack can't be patched invisibly. Interlock costs more initially, but individual pavers can be lifted and reset, and a properly based driveway lasts for decades.

Before you widen: check the rules

In Mississauga, maximum driveway width depends on your lot frontage. Read our driveway widening rules guide before planning a wider driveway.

FAQ

Is interlock worth it over asphalt?

For most homeowners planning to stay, yes. It lasts much longer, can be repaired paver by paver, and adds curb appeal.

How long does installation take?

Most two-car driveways take 3–5 working days, weather permitting.

Does the price include HST?

Typical ranges quoted online, including ours, are before 13% HST.
